Interventional Radiology

Interventional Radiology Procedures:

• Cerebral artery aneurysm coiling:  Placing small metallic coils in abnormally dilated blood vessels in the brain.  This interventional radiology procedure frequently can replace open brain surgery.
  
  
• Endovascular laser ablation of varicose veins:  Shrinking varicose veins with lasers. 
  
  
• Interventions in oncology:  Many cancers can be treated with interventional radiology procedures. 
  
  
• Aortic stent-grafts:  Treating bulges of the aorta with hollow tubes inserted through puncture wounds in the groin. 
  
  
• Vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty:  Fixing fractured vertebrae with bone cement.
