


The three images above are from the same angiographic run in the frontal projection. There are numerous pseudoaneurysms and areas of extravasation. The "starry night" pattern of injury is seen, indicating diffuse injury.

Given the diffuse nature of the injury, a selective embolization was not possible. A proximal embolization was performed with coils. An angiogram one month later (not shown) demonstrated perfusion of the upper pole of the speen, probably from short gastric arteries. There was necrosis of the lower pole.
