The image on the right, the later phase, demonstrates reconstitution of the subclavian artery distal to the vertebral artery. Blood/contrast from the right carotid artery and the right vertebral artery circulate through the circle of Willis, travel retrograde down the left vertebral artery to constitute the subclavian.
