Subclavian Steal

Early and late phase arteriograms from an aortic injection. The image on the right demonstrates an occluded left subclavian artery. The image on the right, the later phase, demonstrates reconstitution of the subclavian artery distal to the vertebral artery. Blood/contrast from the right carotid artery and the right vertebral artery circulate through the circle of Willis, travel retrograde down the left vertebral artery to constitute the subclavian.
